A day in Paris…

Paris….The charm, narrow streets, small cafe’s, beautiful art…A city which will make you fall in love all over again..

The very first view I had of the city was at night and it just sparkling…simple glitter…I was being given a tour of the city by a friend and it was till today one of the magical evenings I have spent. We started off with a visit to a cafe , and like a few other places I have seen in Europe, all the chairs in the cafe will point out towards the street like you are sitting in a movie theater…we were facing the museum of modern art and  enjoying the view along with our drink….

Dinner at a very small restaurant which has like 5 tables or so which served some delicious vegetarian food. Somehow my host who was French thought Indians preferred vegetarian to meat 🙂 . But the beauty of small road side cafes in paris is to just sit out, enjoy the view, sip your wine, relish your food and forget everything..that’s the mood it sets you in.

….

Then it was time to see some places…As most of the things were closed by that time,we just drove around the small narrow streets…apna charminar ki galli bhi bade lagenge..

and then I saw it The Eiffel Tower..what a beauty it was…lit up in like a million lights, it was like a big diamond just sparkling away..it indeed was a beauty. Took a pause, just to enjoy the moment, saw some boats pass by on the river Siene which flows next to Eifel. Then visited the national library which had 4 buildings shaped like open books, drove past the paris Opera…it was indeed a beautiful night.

.

Next day I have decided to explore Paris on my own . I took the metro, to my first destination the Lovrue museum to see ‘monalisa’ …it was a beautiful museum ..it was the same place where the last scene of the movie Da Vinice Code was shot where we have those big glass pyramids.

The beautiful and famous art collection this museum holds is amazing. But I guess Monalisa is the most popular one ..it was an awe to see such paintings in real, about which you have heard so much all your life..

Then I took a walk around the streets …had my lunch at a nice French restaurant …it was actually quite funny as after reading the menu I was not sure I understood even a single dish 🙂 except something which had pasta mentioned in it…so I ordered it and it turned out to be pasta cooked in 7 varieties of cheese. I did manage to eat like 5 bites but it was too creamy for me ..luckily the waiter noticed my plight as I was not eating, but only sipping my wine, took the dish back to the chef and improvised it with some vegetables and spice….it was very sweet of him and then I happily finished my lunch with a big grin 🙂

.

Next with my tummy full I have decided to go to Eifel , now to see it again in daylight…it was a magnificent structure, no wonder it is one of the seven wonders. ..loads of tourists queued up to get onto the top..took my ticket and joined the line..after some waiting I got into the lift and up I went..

The view of Paris from the top of Eifel was spectacular…the streets, houses, river…was indeed a sight to remember..after spending some time there I came down, sat down in front of Eifel for some more time just to stare at it..

Next was to visit the  Champs Elysees which is considered to be one of the most expensive streets in the world with all famous and expensive shops… Arc de Triomphe another famous monument in Paris stands there as well.

After walking the whole day I was exhausted…stopped at a small shop, bought some wine, cheese and bread which makes a delicious combination..went back to my hotel and enjoyed my meal..

It was a short trip, but a wonderful trip …a day even after so many years brings out a smile when I think about it 🙂
